Gili Islands (Part 2)

Today we spent some of the day relaxing on the beach soaking up the sun and snorkelling in the crystal clear water, the snorkelling was very good and I saw many types of fish and colourful coral. Ana spotted a large turtle swimming along and coming up to breathe.

The beaches have a lot of dead coral on them looking like piles of bones.

The island is very flat and we walked around it in about 1.5 hours this afternoon along the beach. Tomorrow we may go on a boat trip to the other 2 islands.

We will try to put some pics sometime soon.

You’ve been doing an awful lot of stuff the last few days you must be shattered.

Where are you off to next?

Hi, have a chill out you need it. The area sounds wonderful and the snorkelling tales are making us all very jealous. Love Cath.

All sounds very desert islandish, and relaxing. Have you met any of the very large spiders or jellyfish mentioned on the web site you provided and have you been wearing protective footwear with all that coral about? It sounds that the climate is very hot but with dry air, so does this make it more bearable when you are exercising? Where are you sleeping and is the company good? Weather here has been reasonably dry and sunny but mornings and evenings are getting quite chilly. We have had the central heating on a bit and you will certainly notice the difference when you return. Look forward to the pics. when you can put them on.

Luckily haven’t seen any of the large spiders or jellyfish but there are a lot of flies and big bees/wasps that are annoying. Haven’t had any problem treading on coral.

It’s still very sticky here and very tiring in the heat, I couldn’t live in it but it’s nice to visit.

Have been sleeping in ok hotels, quite basic but not too bad. We finished the group tour today and go to Hong Kong in a couple of days. The group has been generally good, there are quite a few people from up north and one man from Yorkshire who has been very entertaining, he works on an oil rig in Azerbaijan.
